Taking Reuben to the Vets this morning

He has had white discharge in his eyes since yesterday morning , it seems to go after first thing in the morning but we aren't taking any chances as it might be an infection , so best err to caution . He himself is fine , full of beans but I think its the best thing to do x

I’m sure he’ll be fine. Stanley gets a lot of what I call eye bogeys after he’s been asleep.

It’s always fine - the only time the vet said to be concerned is if they’re yellowy/green

His eyes did show infection , he had the dreaded orange dye ( that was fun ! ) and has Isathal drops twice a day for a few days . Vet said it wasn't really bad but would certainly have got worse if left , so pleased we went xxx

Eyes worry me greatly , our little Millie ( we lost her two years ago ) had an ulcer which despite treatment , wouldn't heal and she ended up having emergency surgery for a corneal transplant . I was concerned that he had scratched the cornea , but the dye showed no damage, just rather red round the inner rims . So pleased we went with our gut feelings xxx

Well done, Kate. Definitely better safe than sorry with eyes. Eye infections in little pups seem pretty common, had them with all three of mine to varying degrees.

Toffee has had eye and ear infections, once at the same time - that was fun with the drops . I've found they seem to get this as puppies.
I developed a system where I held the tube of squeezy cheese between my teeth for Toffee to lick, leaving me two hands free to administer the drops, as OH always managed to be away when I needed to do them.

It's always good when you can catch these things early, hope Reuben recovers quickly .
