Limping again

Poor little Nelly , just back from a smashing beach trip , and she is limping again for the first time in absolutely ages , months . The beach we went to is a local one, the sand not being the best as its shingly and not firm , and although she didn't bomb about like Reuben did , I think it is the cause of her limping . Metacam on her tea for a few days and she can stay with Paul at the café whilst I walk Reuben , she doesn't mind too much as she gets thoroughly spoilt !!

Poor little lass... However, I am sure Paul will treat her like the princess she undoubtedly is! I'm sure she is admired by all and sundry when she sits at the cafe with him during your walks.

Por little Nelly sausage! They can find sand a bit hard sometimes can't they? Hopefully she's feeling better in a day or two and gets thoroughly pampered in the meantime :)

Nelly had Xrays about 18 months ago, which showed what we suspected , poor back end joints . Our Vet and the orthopaedic Vet who saw the results , agreed that careful management was the way to go , as there is just so much wrong , she would need endless surgeries and with her probable Chiari malformation , I`m not prepared to put her through . She has the odd little seizure due to the Chiari , and is on gabapentin . She is such a pretty little girl but a really poor sample of bad breeding , so I`m just pleased that we rescued her xx edited to add , and we love her very much indeed xx

Just looked up Chiari, Kate - a small or misshapen skull that leads to brain tissue squishing into the spinal canal, it’s blooming brutal isn’t it? I’m so glad you rescued her too, I didn’t realise the poor girl had these issues to contend with. Thank goodness for you, and that the condition can be managed pretty successfully for her. Long may it continue. I think I adore her even more if possible, she’s such a little Trojan xxx

It is a horrible condition , causing the dog to cry out , just heart breaking . Nelly is a gorgeous little girl with a fantastic outlook on life , and very loving too . We used to wonder why we are her fourth home , now we know why , but we are her last one and that's what matters xxx

Ah geez, Kate, now the samurais are cutting up onions again.

I'm sorry Nelly is limping but I bet she had the best time running around with Reuben and would say, "It was worth it, Mum!" Plus now she gets some special time with Paul at the cafe. Hopefully she'll be back in form really soon.

Just a little note, but as you see Nelly every day you may not realise how much she has changed. When I first met her, she was slow and looked a bit unsteady and unsure of the world. A few months later, she was already walking with more assurance and strength. Again a few months later and she's bounding around like a little athlete despite her physical challenges. She's a little wonder, and that's all down to you and Paul.
