My Sunday name is Kathleen , but I haven't been called that since I was norty , always known as Kate, and I hate Katie with a passion ! x
Agree, it's a pet hate of mine too, I think it's very rude.Nothing annoys me more than people who don’t get names rightI can understand mishearing but when it’s written down just follow the spelling.
To me, "Emma" and "Emily" are completely different names. I named one of my foster dogs "Emma" and people got seriously up in arms that I'd given a dog my own name. No, it's a completely different name...well, to me. Apparently the rest of the world thinks otherwise. Most people call me Em but I always have to introduce myself as Emily, otherwise they automatically make the jump from Em to Emma![]()
Hey, maybe it's a more imaginative name than I thought! In the UK at least, maybe it's even a little exotic? Thanks for the enlightenment![]()

After consuming several glasses of wine, and torn between laughing and crying, she plucked up the courage to ring me and break the news. It was a Saturday evening and my then boyfriend had invited his boss and wife around for dinner. On my return from the 'phone boyfriend asked 'What did your mother want?' Well! Fancy having to explain that one over dinner!
It didn't get any better of course when I went into nurse training. I became known affectionately as 'Birdie' by some friends. To be fair, I suppose it could have been a lot worse. Anyway, that's why I tend to stick with Candy!
Hehe! I did manage to work that out! Not that I believe a word of it"Señor Grumpypantalones" is self explanatory.
(but if not, "pantalones" = trousers)

I remember that song ! x and yes , Candy is delightful xCandy is lovely! @Candy
Wasn't there a song in the sixties "Candida" ?
I have heard of a couple of babies called malena -- who would be brave enough to break that news?

I hope I haven't made fun of that in the past.I was christened Candida,
You sent me down a whole rabbit hole on Tony Orlando and Dawn. I loved their TV show as a kid. Bell bottoms, disco and lots of mirror balls. Aw, the 70's memories.
