Do you ever wish

Nothing annoys me more than people who don’t get names right 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I can understand mishearing but when it’s written down just follow the spelling.
Agree, it's a pet hate of mine too, I think it's very rude.

The name Cassie doesn't seem to cause much problem, although some times people think it's Cathy.

Most people call me Em but I always have to introduce myself as Emily, otherwise they automatically make the jump from Em to Emma
To me, "Emma" and "Emily" are completely different names. I named one of my foster dogs "Emma" and people got seriously up in arms that I'd given a dog my own name. No, it's a completely different name...well, to me. Apparently the rest of the world thinks otherwise.

I'm never ever "Em". My mom called me "Emmers" but otherwise...just plain old "Emily" please.. or "hey you" works too. :p

@kateincornwall don't let the "Reuben" manglers bother you. I know I've already mentioned it, but Brogan got called "Broken" so many times that I just got used to the horrified "You named your dog BROKEN??!" look.

Now people mangle "Carbon" too, though I honestly don't blame them. If we're not in Spain, however someone wants to say it is fine by me. AND I'm forever explaining that "No, I'm not so incredibly unimaginative to name a black dog "Charcoal"...he CAME with that name!".

Candy

I was christened Candida, which my parents thought was a beautiful name, easily shortened to Candy for when I was small. It wasn't until I was about 24 that a colleague of my mother's informed her that it is also the medical term for Thrush (and we're not talking about birds here!) After consuming several glasses of wine, and torn between laughing and crying, she plucked up the courage to ring me and break the news. It was a Saturday evening and my then boyfriend had invited his boss and wife around for dinner. On my return from the 'phone boyfriend asked 'What did your mother want?' Well! Fancy having to explain that one over dinner!:$ It didn't get any better of course when I went into nurse training. I became known affectionately as 'Birdie' by some friends. To be fair, I suppose it could have been a lot worse. Anyway, that's why I tend to stick with Candy!

I’m used to everyone getting my name wrong, especially the pronunciation. I get called so many thanks and the spellings are out of this world! My daughter is Orianna Jayne, but her friends shorten it to OJ and I tend to most of the time as well, unless she’s in trouble :giggl:.
Harley always gets mistaken for a boy!

I wish I named Gizmo a different name... Wilbur! After the cute little pig in Charlottes Web. Mainly just because over time I realized he is a PIG. My god, he’s worse than Axel. I have to block my kitchen pantry off with a chair because the little pig that he is would break in and stuff himself - he’s eaten dog and cat kibble, BBQ chips, tried to chew through a chocolate chip bag (thank god he didn’t manage) and several other food items
