...whereas Kipper’s developed an intermittent limp! No squeal, but he’ll hold up his front right foot, lick round (I think) the main pad, limp a couple of steps then slowly back to normal. I’m going to have a detailed exploration later when he’s chilling, but there’s nothing obvious for now.

Looking back, little Joy was at the vet so, so often in the first 18 months or so of her life! The vet said some pups/young dogs are just like this, it's a bit like when some kids start school. I actually said to the vet at one stage that I was worried they might think I had Münchhausen's by proxy. I wasn't entirely joking. He seemed to find this quite amusing. Anyway, no vet visits now since New Year's Eve ( I'm really really asking for it now, aren't I?) So fingers crossed for young Joy, Kipper, Maslow and all our lovely ones!

Oh no, what a worry our fur-children are. I hope all the pups are ok

@HAH - This sounds exactly how Maxx was when we were down the coast. It turned out he had a yeast infection in all four paws - really deep in the pad so it wasn't easily visible. One paw became worse, thus the limp and how we found it. We have to massage Malesab shampoo into them every day, leave for 10 minutes then rinse. We have to make sure HRH's paws are thoroughly dried every time he goes swimming now too :rolleyes:. The vet said some dogs are more prone to them plus the really hot, humid weather was making it ideal conditions for these sorts of infections

Ew yes, I can imagine hot and humid plays havoc with their nooks and crannies :(

I had a better look at Kipper’s paw a few minutes ago, and there might be a pink area just behind the main pad that could be a little cyst or swelling. It might be something stuck in there but he doesn’t like being fiddled with and I don’t want to push it if I don’t have to. I’ll keep a close eye and if he’s still limping tomorrow we’ll get it looked at.
