Cracked it !!

Reuben is a good puppy but the massive stumbling block has been his jumping up on people . I tried everything , concentrating on tennis balls to try and get him hooked , they just didn't hold enough interest for him and I was despairing of every dealing with this until earlier this week . I met a lovely couple out walking with their equally lovely Labrador Nolly who had a bright orange kong on a rope . The dogs appeared to take it in turn to retrieve this , Reuben was very enthusiastic so I ordered him one , bright orange of course ! This afternoon I walked the intrepid pair and began to throw the toy for Reuben , he absolutely loved it and best of all , he completely ignored a man with two border collies and a lady with three spaniels ! No running up or jumping, no prancing around , he just trotted ahead carrying the kong on its rope , waiting for me to throw it again . OK , so the novelty might wear off but for now I am well chuffed xx

I just wish I'd found something like that when Molly was younger. She is still jumping up at people, and she's 3 in April

Yes Karen, I kept putting it in my bag for five minutes or so , before letting him have it again and I wont let him have it in the home as a toy , I want it to be precious ! xx
