Going round (wrapping)

We’ve been taking it slowly with wrapping as I’ve found it quite challenging to get the mechanics right and didn’t want to confuse Kipper, but last night at training I sent him round an object several times, left and right - it was as if something just clicked. This morning I successfully sent Kipper round a tree and videoed it - so here’s our (very early days) effort:
(As always, sorry for the shrill enthusiasm )

That's great, I haven't done any training like that, so I'm always interested in watching those of you that have.
It looks like he loves doing it all, don't apologise for the shrilling, I'm sure he loves it! I'm far too inhibited to be able to motivate/ reward Cass in that way!

Shrill enthusiasm is brilliant, love it!

Yesterday, I sent Willow to go around a bush. I'm starting to fade the physical cue (although I will keep that topped up for certain applications). This means I have to be very clear on what the object is that I want her to wrap. I thought I sent her to the bush, but she actually went around Squidge, who was sat a couple of feet away from the bush :cwl:

That looked great. I was practising a level 3 rally round last week which included a 'go around' sign - meaning the dog walks around the handler. Molly, bless her walked round me and the cone holding the sign next to us! I need to sort out my cues.
Thanks @Joy! I do find that this more than any training we’ve done before is testing my handling; it’s reassuring to hear that even pros like you and Molly can have a bit of ambiguity sometimes :)

Ooh, I love it. You've reminded me that I wanted to try this again. Last time we tried (ages ago) Ella kept touching her nose on the pole and looking back to me for a treat :giggl:. We only tried for a moment, in between doing other things so I hadn't read put the time into it. Will dig out the cones to try later

Ooh, that’s interesting! I was trying yesterday afternoon and that’s what Kipper was doing - clearly I still need to work on my mechanics :) hope it goes well if you give it a go.

Plum has done this a couple of times at the park. I’ve directed her around, say, the flagpole and there might be a bin nearby and she takes in the bin on her route to the flagpole, then back to me. It’s so sweet and funny and she’s always so excited that she trots up but gallops back. ❤
