    Refreshing my clicker training

This sounds really good fun. I used a clicker a lot both with Molly and the 2 borrowed dogs in the early stages but have somehow let it lapse. I might revive it now that I"m working on doing things working on the right with Rajah. I think the PDSA article pretty much has it covered. Keep us posted.

    Playing with a sock-on-a-bungee-cord

@Jacqui-S Yes it is an old sock tied to a length of bungee cord that I found washed up on the beach! Cheapest toy ever! @Emily_Babbelhund Well I suppose it started as a training exercise - 'you stay in the position your in until I release you' kind of thing, but really now it's just fun/engagement.

    Playing with a sock-on-a-bungee-cord

This is Tess playing the chasing game - like a flirt pole but easier to carry. The video's not very clear because I tried to prop my phone in a tree and then I moved out of shot for part of it. But I hope it shows that it is a chasing rather than tugging game. Tess has a release word - 'ready'-...

    Recall in exciting situations

Sock on a bungee cord - is my version of a flirt pole (easier to carry). So it's different from a tuggy game. You move the cord and the dog chases the sock - when they catch it the cord goes slack and that 'round' of the game is over. I used to give a treat at that point in the early stages to...

    Recall in exciting situations

Yes that was me and Molly! I don't think it was a 'dodgy' video actually - they looked like students trying to do something in the fantasy realm (or maybe I'm too innocent!)

    Recall in exciting situations

You have my sympathies for the situation with the man lying in the grass - Stanley was clearly simply startled and couldn't listen for a moment (and by the sound of it it was just a moment or two). I remember when Molly was young we came across people right in the middle of the forest, off the...

    Talking Dogs Rally

Another Talking Dogs Rally with Rajah yesterday. He scored 201 and 205 (out of 210) in his two classes which gives him his Level 1 TD Title. Our marks were mostly lost on turns when he was heeling on my right hand side - we still haven't really got to grips with this having practised so much...

    What made you smile today?

@Atemas I was given a one-of flying lesson as a gift probably 20 years ago now, and I loved it. I couldn't afford to take lessons after that one but it's a great memory. One of the strange things that's stuck in my mind is that you could open the window!

    Run free Nelly

I'm sorry you're feeling so low Kate. You genuinely have no need to feel guilt. You did your best to give Nelly the medical support she needed and even if the side-effects were related to her final illness, it still may have given her the best quality of life possible. You were her loving family...

    Ageing joints

I used Yumove (glucosamone) for years but I'm not convinced it did much good. A collagen supplement I've used for the last couple of years seemed more effective (I buy one by Pawable called 'Collargen'). To treat advanced symptoms I've been stunned at how effective the Onsior tablets are...

    Doggy brags

@edzbird You must be so proud of Meg. What an achievement to do not just a great retrieve but in a group situation too. Well done!

I'm so sorry. Although I never met Pongo in person, I felt as though I knew him. Thinking of you. xx

Dogs Trust - removal of third party insurance

That's annoying. I shan't renew my membership - I'd rather donate to another dog charity. It's irritating as members were assured the insurance cover would continue when all the changes were made to dogs Trust. I think it's now being run more as a business.
