    New collar and lead

I love the Halti leads but like you, I really don’t like buying from them. I previously tried so many different leads with Holly and ended up giving all of them away to our local rescue centre. Once I found the Halti lead, I stuck with that as it is so flexible and soft to hold and it washes...

    New collar and lead

I really like the Red Dingo collars - they last and, most importantly, wash really well after fox poo rolls. I’m about to buy the next size up for Cassie. The leather one does look lovely though so if he never rolls, I’d be tempted by that one.

    UTI

Vet says that in puppies, the gap between wee and poo bits is short but that things move around 😲 after first season and gap gets bigger! If it doesn’t clear up after the three weeks of treatment, then they will have to investigate further. Hoping it doesn’t come to that!

    UTI

No, vet checked and said it was ok.

    UTI

Cassie has another urine infection. The last one was only a few weeks ago. She now has a 3 week course of antibiotics. I just gave her a bit of kefir in water - partly to get more water into her and partly as I think I read that kefir might help. Does anyone have any ideas/experience to help...

Poo - how much is too much?!

Thanks all - that’s very interesting. So in summary: More carbs may equal more poo (eg, raw vs kibble) BUT All dogs are different and two dogs on the same food can have a very different ‘Poo profile’. AND Dogs can thrive on all sorts of food including veggie. In typical fashion, the day after I...

Poo - how much is too much?!

I think has a blanket - she looks good to me. Video attached of her playing with my croc. agree - if I did go with raw it would have to be a pre-made version - I would worry about not getting it right. Thanks! Good to know! I am open to raw pre-made but I currently use 80% of her kibble as...

Poo - how much is too much?!

I know everyone loves a poo discussion😀 Cassie does around 5 poos a day. Large and formed. They are usually at around 5am, 7am, 9 am, mid afternoon and 10pm. This seems a lot to me - especially the three early morning. I am wondering if I should change her food. Is the poo volume contributing...

    Chewing everything

Is there a discernible pattern to it? Is it only when you are inaccessible to him - eg, in shower/bathroom - or does he do it when you are in the room as well?

    Leaving pup alone

Thank you for this @Joy - I will give it a try. I did have a tiny amount of success yesterday when I managed to stay in my office (off the kitchen) while she was in her pen in the kitchen for a little while. I will try the unconfined approach as well. I have been walking backwards and forwards...

    Leaving pup alone

We are having problems leaving Cassie alone. It’s partly of our own making as it was so difficult to get her to sleep during the day that we ended up sitting very quietly near her as if we moved she woke up. I just searched the forum for advice and found this quote from @Jen which sums up how we...

    Treat delivery

Thanks Kate. I tried this and as you say it does work really well to get her to take the treat gently. I will keep practising this in the hope it will cross over into taking treats for training. We do have a Touch behaviour but I haven’t tried it with more than my right hand facing her. I will...

    Treat delivery

Cassie snatches at treats used for reward. This results in my fingers getting caught on her super sharp teeth. I have trained a gentle treat delivery with a closed fist which only opens when she pulls back but this isn’t useful for treating on the go when practicing loose lead walking etc. I...
