    Sully ❤️

What a good boy, Sully! ❤️ You did your gwanny proud! ❤️ Does anyone tell the instructor the dogs are being set up to fail? If I’d had this insight when Snowie was a puppy, I’d have left the class. He failed at every class for 1.5 years until we found an instructor who set up each puppy to...

    Snowie

Thank you for the encouragement. I did call and their phones were down!! My call went through to the receptionist’s mobile number and the connection was terrible. Tried a few times and gave up. And decided to just carry on with the treatment.

    Snowie

Thank you for your kind words. I often feel I’ve failed Snowie, think he’d had a much better life had we got him a mate at home. And had children! He loves both dogs and children and lots of activity around him! Instead he got a very quiet home. But yes, we (my husband plays an equal part)...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Hilarious! Our tour/boat manager, Tanja, was the kindest person who made such an effort to look after everyone. But we did find her use of language and communication amusing, wondering if it was a direct translation thing. She’d say things like: “How was your meal? Maybe you liked it? Maybe...

Sorry about the 3-day ticket you couldn’t use. That’s a real bummer. I’m disappointed they wouldn’t allow Carbon, although not surprised. At least they allow guide dogs (I’ve heard worse about many other places). I always say, if the Michelin star restaurants in Germany allow dogs, why not...

Korcula is lovely. Perfect town planning in a herringbone design to allow breezes on one side and no wind on the other. I was so impressed! We went up the tower. More terrifying than the roads! A staircase that ends in a potential death fall if your foot slips. And a tiny area at the top with a...

I prefer driving little roads from town to town. But we were told this park was a Must See, and with our limited time, we took the most direct route. As for the park. Meh. It was pretty. But soooo expensive. And we got there so early that the sun wasn’t at the correct angle to make the lakes...

    Poppy

Those up and down days are a rollercoaster. Thinking of you and Poppy. We have similar with Snowie. At our visit with the vet last week, he said Snowie will live forever—he was so bright and cheerful. But in the last few days he’s erupted in infected sores and his limp has worsened and he’s been...

From Zadar to Plitvice Lakes Park, and then to Split. Getting to the park was frightening. Twisty narrow road with trucks flying past and no shoulder. And I had to drive fast cos it was getting dark and I did not want to drive in the dark (terrible night vision!). White knuckle stuff. The...

To qualify for health insurance, do they require that you are within a specific weight range? My health insurance rewards me for losing weight and exercising. I can get up 25% discount at the supermarket and various shops if I keep my points up. There are some things you can’t claim if you are...

Who was emitting the swear words? The lady in the bed, Floki’s ML, or your ML? If it was your ML, I hope at least she was practising her Croatian at the same time.

    One training thing

Hand signals. It’s never been more useful than now that Snowie has lost his hearing. And I’m so pleased we can still communicate with him about specific behaviours even when he can’t hear. We weren’t intentional about training the hand signals. They just came naturally at the time. Come...

Those Croatian roads are very twisty. And narrow! The trucks are wider than the lanes. And people drive soooo fast. We rented a car for two days. I drove. It was terrifying! Needless to say, I am impressed that you took your car!

    Nail trimming

I saw a lovely video of a woman with her pup on his back between her legs. She was snipping spaghetti (uncooked) with nail clippers. And for every clip, the dog got a treat. A very young pup getting used to lying back relaxed with the sound of the nail clippers. I’ve never had a problem cutting...
