    Stick ouchie

Really well done for having him looked at, and hopefully his little system can clear it x

    Ear infections

Exactly this! Everything just clicks into place when it's explained well and you feel fully powered to make good decisions, rather than a bit limp and all at sea.

    Ear infections

Well, it's not quite over - Stilton's ears are again irritating him and we've had a bit of a saga with treating it - my OH took him in a week ago ago, I made the appointment and made sure we booked with one of the experienced, patient vets but when OH and Stilton turned up at the surgery they...

    Stick ouchie

Eurgh, dentist is no fun is it? Especially not if you're nervous. I did ask ours the other day of they do sedation (for a friend who's super nervous), and apparently they do - in that they work with your GP to arrange sedatives if needed and take it from there. I think the dentist is marginally...

    Homer being sick

Oh Homer, you angel - I hope it brings useful information. And I hope Potters Bar has plenty to entertain you while you wait - make time for at least one treat for yourself x

That’s really sensible Kelsey, and I completely agree - not emergency, but probably good to get a pro to get it all out. They’ll be very used to it! Good luck 🍀

    Adult teeth

Ahm, Kipper’s weight is a sensitive topic… he should be around 32kg, and I suspect Stilton will end up around 29/30kg when he’s fully muscled. Stilton is slightly longer than Kipper already, but a finer structure and without the slight Drakeshead chonk that Kipper has. I think Stilton’s dad is...

    Adult teeth

This is us too - we got Stilton partly because his mum is very petite at 20kg, so far he’s 28kg and still putting on muscle…

    Adult teeth

I'm so pleased it's helped! We revisited some puppyhood ideas and found things like old towels to rip up, ice cubes to crunch and frozen yoghurt etc lickimats really helped to direct and soothe the discomfort he was clearly feeling, which might help too.

    Adult teeth

Hooray! I’m glad it’s helpful - I found that the information around number of teeth and where/when they come through made a lot of sense with Stilton’s behaviour. Like you, we had a little ‘false dawn’ when we thought he was all done, then he had a bit more irritation/shifting about. I’m pleased...

    Adult teeth

They look like fantastic gnashers! Don’t feel silly - teeth threw me completely with Stilton too, I kept thinking he must have finished with his teeth and then he seemed to have another phase of settling in. I think everything seemed to stop shifting when he was around 8 months. The little teeth...

    What made you smile today?

Oof Robyn, I bet that hit deep. Hope your biopsy results are similarly clear and you can congratulate yourself on being v sensible and getting checked out. Sending heaps of love, that must have been scary xxxxx

    Hunter

Gorgeous photo of Hunter, and it sounds like you're doing great work on the retrieve. Other people probably think 'I really should have more fun with my dog...' :D Stilton is nearly 10 months and has similar changing feelings about going in the back of one of our cars, which we need to work on...

Phew - so pleased you were able to have it checked quickly, and it's a good result.

    Doggy dreaming

Yes, we’ve had this @Parodius and it is upsetting isn’t it? Thankfully rare, but I guess that if they can have good or neutral dreams, they can also have bad ones.

Librela - a new option for pain relief for dogs with osteo arthritis

With Kipper, we noticed improvements within a week of starting Librela and so far (after ~12 months) it’s continued showing positive effects. Our vet is keeping an eye on the developing evidence base because there’s currently not a huge amount on side effects, shelving effects and fading over...

    What made you smile today?

This is my current dilemma - how to plant bulbs without Stilton finding/eating them all. It’s getting critical, I need to plant them v soon!

    What made you smile today?

He is utterly hilarious, I can’t be cross with him and he does it all with such joie de vivre!

    What made you smile today?

“Golly, Stilton’s lovely and quiet in the garden…” (This does not reflect the mud-carnage that has been wrought outside - where our only patch of grass is now mud - and in the kitchen, which is awash with mud!)

    Bedtime

I’m replying based just on our experience with Kipper; we battled with the crate and made him use it for far too long because we thought we had to. It’s contributed to long lasting stress at bedtime, and I wish we’d been more flexible and gone with what he needed. If it’s not essential, don’t...
