The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

I’m also wondering if I should keep letting her sleep in the bed with me. It’s where she does best (and where she normally sleeps at home), but Carbón leaves and goes in the living room, which normally he’d NEVER do. They did spend time together on the bed during the day at her last stay, so...

The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

Carbón has no problem doing a minor ‘tell off ‘ to a puppy on the street if they get too rowdy. I must admit I’m not a huge fan, as neither of my Rotties did that (they were big softies) so it makes me nervous. Maja - for whatever reason - freaks him out. I think it has to do with his previous...

The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

I hope so! It’s an opportunity for her and me to both learn something. I think Carbón will just learn that he’s happiest as an only child. 😆

The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

Thank you for this good advice. I actually need to work on prioritizing Carbón. He’s normally quite chilled and confident, except in some very specific circumstances like this (also @Beanwood saw the less confident side of him with Woody). It tends to surprise me so much that I don’t quite know...

The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

Maja has a small soft carrier that Nadine will give me tomorrow. But it isn’t something I’d leave her in unattended.

The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

She’s the size of a meerkat. How much trouble could she be? 😇 :giggl:

The Ballad of Maja and Carbón

To try to preserve some of my own sanity, I’m starting a limited-time thread about my three weeks stroppy-teenager dog sitting for my friend’s 10 month old chihuahua, Maja. It seems likely that I will need some sage advice…or just a place to virtually pull out my hair? 😬 So here I am. Carbón...

I’m sorry you and Harley are really going through it. :( Sending hugs and care from me and the Señor to you and Harley.

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

By the way, putting in my 2 cents on the Autobahn: many sections have speed limits (variable by road conditions) and even the sections with no limit are rarely ‘as fast as your car will go’ because of heavy traffic and incessant roadworks. Where it is ‘anything goes’ @M.F. you are right - you...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Yes, technically it can be only 6:30-7:30 hours driving, depending on when you search on Google Maps as they base it on current traffic unless you change the parameters to a specific drive time and date - in that case the result is based on historical averages. The first time I drove Venice to...

    Salmon Oil

I liked this when I tried it in the UK https://www.regalmutt.com/product/scottish-salmon-oil-500ml/ Carbón can’t have salmon oil anymore so I douse him with olive oil. I don’t think it’s as nice and obviously not the same vitamins, but it does keep him from being itchy.

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Muchas gracias! We are home! ML says it took 10 hours to drive, but I do not believe that as it was just a short siesta. Also the very simpatica Elena took wonderful care of our TARDIS in her parcheggio and we were happy to see it ready to go after our six days in Venice. I guess it had a nice...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

ML has me packed up again, so that must be all for Venice this year! Now we take the boat back to our car, and hope the leeeetle TARDIS still has all its windows and tires. Pues, then we drive like magic up to Regensburg. Ojalá and paws crossed, amigos!

I am magnificent. De verdad, I worked the camera so hard in Burano that I can just retire now and still be an eternal legend.

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

I have seen you, amiga GGJ, and your ML is correct: you are more guapa than any of those places. And do not worry too much about missing Venice. It IS wonderful for us dogs, but home is even more wonderful. My leeeetle feet are hurting and I miss my Monkey: I am ready to leave tomorrow. More...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

We made it to the island today! We went muy temprano, very early, with mainly only workers on the boat. I made amigos with a nice Venetian man who told us the history of the lagoon’s oldest islands - which we already knew, but it was still very interesting. Pero más importante, much more...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Señorita Sonia, let me tell you her secret: a good iPhone in portrait mode, lucky lighting, and E.D.I.T.I.N.G. I, claro que sí, do not have to rely on any of that as I am a naturally handsome señor. ML? She needs a leeetle help. ( :giggl:)

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Pues, that is our next to last day done in Venice. ML had plans for a big walk, but my pobrecitos piedes, poor leeetle feet, just would not go anymore. So instead we had a shorter walk and a contemplative sit down in front of ML’s favorite house and watched the water. Then we realized there...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

We missed the boat to Burano today! Pues…not actually ‘missed’ because there is always another boat, but ML was so sloooooow this morning that by the time our leeeetle feet got to the boat stop, it was loco crowded and she said, “PFFT!” Just keeeeding, ML does not say that, I do. But still, she...

    What made you smile today?

She’s what I like to call a benevolent dictator. Yes, bossy, but so sweet that you don’t mind in the slightest. My friend in Germany’s chihuahua Fine was like that. She was the queen, but she was wise and justified in her preferences so we just went with it, because why not? Now we have Miss...
