    Doggy brags

Thank you all. There is something very special about these labs isn't there? Once they understand what we've asked of them, they put their hearts and souls into it - bless them. :inlove:

    Doggy brags

A young man has taken to walking in our lane and up to the National Trust grounds near to us in the past few months. Maybe he's recently moved here - anyway, he walks with his guide dog, a beautiful black lab. I've mentioned before that Molly is a devil for rushing up to dogs, so desperate to...

Spencer - Guide Dog In Training 🐾

Wonderful. So much incredible work done by dogs and humans alike. You are all very special. Spencer is precious and doubtless will be much loved and appreciated where he eventually goes - as he always will be here.

Don't worry... she will teach my dog a lesson!

That is a very sad observation on dog owners these days. With all the education available you'd like to think this is a thing of the past but sadly it seems not. Perhaps all these calls for expensive dog licences to be re-instated is correct.

    Training Molly

Thanks, I've no idea how that happened, I certainly haven't chosen to ignore anything or anyone deliberately. Yes, clearly what I've been doing is boring Molly but I was following what my trainer has taught us. Perhaps I'll give up on this for now and talk to her (trainer) at our next session...

    Training Molly

Can someone point me at @Heidrun 's advice please? I've tried but can't find anything  .. or am I being thick again?

    Training Molly

Yes, I guess that's it @MellowYellow I think I've missed something as you're also referring to something @Heidrun has said. I'll go and look for that.

    Training Molly

Thanks @Cath and @Joy Yes, I do have more than 1 dummy, as advised by our trainer, so I'll try switching them as you suggest. Part of the process includes treats. When she brings the dummy to hand, I click and treat, then throw a treat so she has to move away before I place the dummy again...

    Training Molly

I'm hoping someone can help with something that's started to happen. As mentioned, our homework includes starting picking up a dummy and bringing it to hand. We've been following our instructions and I thought it was going ok. Once Molly brings back the dummy reliably, we are to introduce a...

    Doggy brags

Ah, good girl Squidge. With the mood Molly is in at the moment she would probably have flung the bird around and ripped it to pieces. Don't know what's got into her but training is a total waste of time just now

    Hattie, her lump and arthritis

Hey, you've done the right thing, got her checked out and now on a course of treatment. Sometimes, as they age, if they don't complain, we don't always see right away that's it's happening. Let's face it, we're the same with our humans as we are with the dogs, ageing and slowing down creeps up...

    Very Wise Decision Charlie!

:cwl:No, he stamped AT me not on me - had he stamped on me it would have been 'goodnight Vienna' or very close to it

    Very Wise Decision Charlie!

Phew - good lad Charlie. :whew: Big critters those red deer stags aren't they? They can get a bit stroppy too. I was stamped at by one in the field near us a few years ago when we had BJ, who fortunately, totally ignored the stag and I hastily backed out of the field.

    Training Molly

What I mean is I wasn't giving her enough to keep her brain working and help her to develop her instincts. She's 3 now and I should have started this training earlier - like you did with Cassie. She is a happy little dog but has been a bit short changed, though it's all coming together now...

    Training Molly

Thanks @kateincornwall that's exactly why I decided to take Molly. She certainly needs things to keep her thinking and I feel less of a rubbish owner when I see her enjoying herself so much.
