Thought I'd start a new thread! Being a new lab puppy owner I would like to ask what others do or recommend for meal times v treats. I find it difficult to know if I am feeding too much by the time I add in to the day treats for training twice a day (bits of cheese or cooked chicken), a raw...

On the subject of weight - what treats do you all use for training? The trainers seem to like tinned hotdog sausage but I resisted buying yesterday as it doesn't look healthy to me. Thank you. Should I start a new thread?! x

I won't get close enough to her teeth to ever know... the difference between an experienced lab/dog owner and a newbie!

I just weighed Betty and she is 10.8 kg at 3 months. Reuben doesn't look any bigger than Betty does... maybe he will slow down soon?!

Morning and evening our pup goes a little crazy. I try to get up half hour before the children so that pup has calmed down before they come down for breakfast! Sounds like we are all in the same boat!

Ahhh thank you both. Glad Reuben is doing so well and the biting is better. And yes the harness has made so much difference and we have started our heel training. We are going on proper walks now although we don't get very far in 15 mins - her nose being the issue!!! Do you stick to the 5 mins...

@kateincornwall I keep wondering how Reuben is getting on? I hope he is behaving. I am feeling more in control with Betty... finally... thanks to the advice of others to stuff a toy in her mouth and play with her when she gets in a nipping mood. Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for your advice...

Thank you Kate for your story - very sad to hear about Sam and very hopeful that Silas and Reuben become friends soon. My two children, like Silas, are indifferent to Betty but as you say there are good things about puppies (they are super cute when not biting) and I know they will warm to her...

Thank you all so much. I feel much better. She has been v good today but yesterday aaaahhhh she was on the prowl all evening. We couldn't even watch tele for an hour before bed. My daughter is 7 and scared of Betty and won't walk in the kitchen when she not sleeping or in crate. My son 10 is ok...

@kateincornwall I think Betty's is a week younger than Reuben (DOB 21st Sep) so I hope that she too stops biting so much in a weeks time!

Hi everyone... so the biting thing... it will pass?! Betty is 12 weeks tomorrow and a biter. Not all the time but I am always a bit conscious that she could snap. Sometimes she can look really annoyed (usually in the evening) with her ears back, eyes starring at me and she follows me around...
