I agree the variety is good for their microbiome. We give Chewie a mix of freeze dried raw (at the moment beef and fish) and kibble (lamb or kangaroo) plus other bits and pieces like sardines, raw meaty bones (rib bones or brisket), veg and fruit (he looooves fruit).

They're always random and strange. Even when they sound sensible they're usually being weird. For example, the friend wasn't being responsible because he didn't IMMEDIATELY pack the toys away to go get a milkshake. 🤣

Rowan has a friend over today and their conversations are hilarious. "You're not being responsible! You have to pack the toys away!" "N we have to wash our hands before lunch!" "I'm a banana!"

Not that I've seen. There are no acorns in our immediate vicinity that he would have unsupervised access to. And it has been multiple episodes with no clear unifying trigger. I haven't seen any unusual critters in the garden.

So teeth were fine, abdomen soft and no discomfort, bloods completely normal so not pancreatitis or worse. Apparently he was totally fine at the vet... Happy and wiggly. He is home now. The vet said if it happens again we can get a referral to a gastroenterologist. We are back in two weeks...

Poor little Chewie has been having these drooling episodes- about 4 in the past month. Initially we bought it was related to a dietary indiscretion so dismissed it when it resolved but now we are worried. His behaviour is a bit different too, he clearly wants to be alone, which is what he does...

Isn't it lovely how they communicate? I think it reflects the interspecies bond, which is a very special thing.

Beautiful photos @Jelinga, of both of them. It sounds like you're making great progress with Flicka. I think with anxious dogs in many ways slow is better so they aren't in danger of overwhelm.

So sorry that this happened! Can you maybe give it some time and have a chat to them about the next catch-up and set a kind but firm boundary? I don't think it's ok for them to bring their dog over and put Red in that position in her own home. Maybe once they have had a few weeks to mull it over...
