Things are settling down. The boys are getting used to things being so different. It's hard, he's at the back of my head a lot of the time. I'm used to doing everything in 3s not 2s. All foods on work surfaces, tea towels and cushions are now safe but the sausages are running amok because...

He's back home now.

I think so, for him and me it was a dog going to his rest calmly with no pain no stress. It was gentle and kind for him. He was supported as he took his last breath.

I was just glad I gave him what he needed when he needed it. He died in the garden with me by his side giving him all the comfort I could. He told me he needed to go and it was a comfort to see his body relaxed and at peace

He managed to steal some food today just before lying down to sleep, ever the rollicking dog

It's so hard I hope things go better next time. Poor Meg it's so hard for her and some vets don't seem to help much.

It's going to fast for me. Rory's coming towards the end of his life now and hard to imagine he was the king of the prance. He's 14 now and a lot of his litter mates have gone on ahead. He's still the biggest thief and silliest dog.
