    Coffi Lab

Its about 25 minutes. There’s a park beside the Morrisons in Abergavenny so I take Jazz for a walk and play while Ruth does the shopping. Its a win-win!

    Coffi Lab

The flooded shops and houses are slowly getting sorted. The piles of ruined shopfittings, furniture and other objects are getting cleared. Some shops have been stripped out and have dehumidifiers, others have barely started to recover. Car parks have been cleaned so people can get into town...

    Coffi Lab

Our Monmouth Coffi Lab was damaged in the recent floods. I had a look on their website to see what their plans are. They currently plan to reopen in the New Year, which is good news for the town’s dog lovers. We often bump into friends and their dogs when we visit. Today we went to...

    Weather

I guess that most people have seen the news about the Monmouth floods. Ruth, Jazz and I are OK. The town centre is a complete mess. Our local doctors surgery, the pet shop, Coffi Lab, Waitrose (our main supermarket), and about half the shops in the town centre have been flooded. My heart...

Harness - worth persevering or not?

Jazz also has a Perfect Fit harness. We rather liked the idea of a modular harness. Dogs don't come in standard sizes so its nice be be able to fit each part of the harness to the dog. At first she wasn't at all sure about it and was very grumpy when we put it on. We started to offer her a...

    One training thing

Not yet. I need a nice day with the camera.

    One training thing

OK. Be prepared for some serious cuteness!

    One training thing

With a young and excitable cockapoo the ‘hand touch‘ has become a very useful command. Its really good at distracting her from an imminent indoor zoomie. A useful visual command is the ‘arms wide’ recall. She sees it and comes running at full speed, then sits at my feet waiting for a reward...

    Tablets...

Holly was also fussy about pills. I made this cutter which could cut a pill-sized hole through a bit of frankfurter. We’d stuff a pill into the hole and plug the ends. Pill and frankfurter were swallowed whole!

    Equafleece

I’d say they're showerproof. They will eventually get wet in persistent rain, but Jazz wouldn't go out in persistent rain. Shes far too sensible. They‘ll keep a dog warm even if the fleece gets wet, which is important with a single coated dog.

    Equafleece

In the recent wet weather we put Jazz into her Equafleece for the first time this autumn. It was about two inches too short so her bottom got rather wet. We should have realised the problem- we bought them when she was 9 months old and she's grown a bit since then! We've just got her two new...

    Tummy problems

She's definitely getting better. She's eaten small amounts regularly today. Tonight she jumped onto the sofa and thrust her squeaky lamb into my face. Its the first time she's been playful since Tuesday night.

    Snowie

We've always found that our dogs tell us when its time. Until then our lives together (including ice creams, beds, sofas ...) are to be shared and enjoyed.

    Tummy problems

We had a short walk around the park this morning. She enjoyed it. She wasnt very energetic but enjoyed a slow plod and lots of sniffing. She even managed a small poop, her first since Wednesday morning. Another milestone on the way back to normality.

    Tummy problems

She’s eating again but is a bit lethargic. Things are heading in the right direction.

    Tummy problems

Jazz was violently sick on her walk yesterday, and spent the rest of the day retching. We did the usual rice/chicken/boiled egg regime, but she want interested. The real worry was that she wasnt drinking which could be serious in a heat wave. Normally we wouldnt bother the vet with tummy...

    Weather

She’s back to normal now. Its just too hot for ‘normal’ running around and play.

Jazz is flaked out on the cool tiles in the utility room and only moves to visit her water bowl.

    Coffi Lab

As usual Jazz wouldn't let us pass the cafe today. If we try to walk past she either slams on the anchors or just turns into the cafe on the assumption that we'll follow. Today's visit brought mixed emotions. On the positive side we ran into some friends and their dogs. James is the sax...

    Jazz

Today we let her go off lead in the garden for the first time since the op. We just left the door open and let her go out on her own while we watched from the kitchen. Fortunately she just mooched around then lay down and sniffed the air. We're being cautious because we know she zoomies and...
