3 week recall challenge.....

Loved this clip (and Roadford, it's a super spot isn't it?) - but I was too slow to see the 'brrr!' game you played:
A bit more detail... when I spot Bramble "air scenting" I knew straight away she had picked up a bird scent. This meant I had to get her attention pronto. The whistle "almost" did that... I got a pause, but I needed to reinforce that focus as I was worried I wouldn't be able to trump the scent and was too far away to grab her. The "brrrr" sound is a real attention grabber! If I left her just sitting there and rewarded in position, the risk was she might simply catch the scent again and disappear into the long grasses. By using the name game, I got her away from that particular spot. Bramble loves the name game, and really enjoys animated food games, so this was a super reinforcing way of removing her from the risk. Just after I popped my phone in my pocket I slipped her on a lead. All good, with two happy dogs! :inlove:

@HAH I should've added Bramble has a high drive for game, so at times I have to be on my toes in order for Bramble to enjoy the environment, but not to rehearse unwanted behaviours.

One of the challenges coming up is..... drum roll!!! Temptation Alley! Thought we get a bit a practice in. I set up an alley with a new toy, tennis balls ... and bacon and cream cheese bagels! Bramble nailed it ( obviously..) but Casper made me laugh the most...

Me: Casper, shall we try some premack exercises? It's gonna be fun!

Casper: Ehh??? Shopping?? Primark??

Me: No.... not Primark... Premack!

Casper: OK.. let's go.. get sossiges...

Hunter is loving the ready steady go. I also think my local pet shop is loving the 3 week challenge as we have had to up the "high end treats". My OH ate the poached chicken I had made ready for Hunter:facepalm:. All the treats I make, he eats!
Hunter's recall was OK before the challenge not great but OK. Yesterday we were in the woods and he got quite a head of me sniffing away and I saw a GSD. I was not sure about the dog's body language so I just shouted his name and he just turned 180 degrees and came running to me! Even OH was impressed!

Great !!

I must say Cassie is loving it all, she really enjoys the games. We've just had our first go at Ready Steady Go, it's super fun I think :)

Haha I know what you mean about the pet shop! I've come home with some chicken sticks we've never used before today, they seem really good and Cass was enthusiastic about them.

:giggl: This reminds of once when I had cooked sausages to take gundog training the next day a couple of years ago, my son and daughter ate them all at 3 in the morning after a night out ! I wasn't amused at the time!

Thanks Kate @Beanwood for recommending this recall challenge it was great fun and very useful for the toolbox :)

Here's Cassie playing Ready Steady Go! I dropped this on her as this is somewhere where she usually just does her own thing, I wanted to see how willing she would be to engage in a game when she wasn't expecting to do so.
