5th November - a new experience

New Year's Eve is the big fireworks night here, it's like a huge mad party with EVERYONE letting off fireworks. Luckily neither of my two care one bit. Good thing about having Labradors who have been gun trained, I guess!
I had a German Pointer who went shooting and in fact if we heard any guns while walking, she was off looking for the action! However she was scared of fireworks and tried to climb onto my knee and disappear!

Canada Day is our big fireworks night (July 1). We sometimes have a town fireworks display Jan. 1 but it’s usually way too cold for most people to set off their own outside that night!

Maisy was terrified, her fear started last year when we walked past a garden that let off a huge rocket as we walked past, this was days after the 5th. This year she has been shaking and panting terribly, I have tried all sorts of things. For new years eve I will get some drugs from the vet, she is suffering badly and shouldn't be, it is cruel to let her. Why can't we have just one night of it between a certain time frame, instead of a constant barage all night for days on end. We are still getting them now, last night was another lot, it never ends. Someone told me that they are now putting in more gunpowder to make them louder. It baffles me that anyone can buy an explosive device full of gunpowder and cause mayhem anywhere they like
