A confusing week

Holly’s had a very confusing week. Today we had new carpets fitted for the lounge, dining room, stairs and landing. We spent this week moving furniture around, which upset Holly a bit. She dislikes change and is a real creature of habit. Yesterday I took up all the carpet, so we had bare floors and those nasty carpet grips with lots of sharp points. We put carpet offcuts over the grips in the doors so she could move around, and kept her away from the edge of the rooms. Getting her upstairs to bed was tricky as the stairs were covered in grips. Today she was very out of sorts so Ruth took her for a long walk while the carpet fitters did their job. They took 5 hours, so we had to keep Holly in the kitchen (which was full of furniture) and garden while they finished. This afternoon we've moved some of the furniture back so the house is looking a bit more normal. Holly has finally collapsed in her bed, exhusted after a lot of disruption to her routine.

Oh dear poor Holly !
That does seem like a big upheaval for her bless her. I guess most of them would feel concerned.
Although I suspect that Cassie would find her small sofa and take refuge wherever it was was 😁

Poor Holly. Poppy would be beside herself, she is a girl who likes her schedules. Today OH gave the dogs kibble for breakfast instead of raw food (someone had forgotten to get the raw out of the freezer...) She was so upset - DOESN'T HE KNOW WE GET RAW FOOD IN THE MORNING??? KIBBLE MEAL IS IN THE AFTERNOON. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO YOU BOTH??? IF YOU GET DEMENTIA WHO IS GOING TO LOOK AFTER US????? Etc.

Yeah, I have been considering new carpets on the stairs and upstairs... the old ones are really beyond the pale. But the upheaval... Will probably consider for a couple more years. Good on you!!!

We did our stairs and landing (which is big) last year - the carpet people were brill - took the old one up and laid the new one. Red stayed in the sitting room and conservatory and so was fairly unaware anything was going on. We are just about to get my craft/grandchildren’s bedroom done and I can‘t wait. You can‘t beat a new carpet for transforming a room

Holly’s next trauma will be when the builder starts work on the porch on Monday 21st. There will probably be a bit of barking with people at the front door.

After that we have the fun of painting the hall, landing and stairs. We’re anticipating little tail-shaped white marks when we do the doors and skirting boards.
