A day without my dog!

It's my older stepdaughter Donna's birthday, so here we are in York with Mel, her sister, booked into a hotel for the night and a Caribbean restaurant thisevening. It's a beautiful sunny day, T shirt and sunglasses weather and we have had a lovely amble round The Shambles and a few ( non alcoholic so far) drinks by the river. GGJ is staying with her friend Big Buddy and his mum Shelli. She loves going to Buddy's house as it is totally dog centred, so I know she'll be fine but I haven't been away from her for more than about an hour since early October 2019 and I am missing my little best friend! Everything is somehow very quiet and calm without her. We're heading out for the evening in about an hour and I don't even seem to posess the right kind of clothes anymore, let alone know how to fill this hour apart from having an extremely long shower so I thought I'd just check in with all of you for a chat. Here are my lovely Donna and Melanie (the taller one) thisafternoon. 20210527_150447.jpg

Well, how to fill that hour? I snoozed! The next thing I knew I had 20 minutes to shower and get myself looking vaguely respectable. We have had such a good evening! The meal was acceptable but not great, but that didn't matter. We talked and talked and wandered around this beautiful city, stopping off for a little glass of something here and there and it wasn't too busy at all (although we were all saying we were glad we didn't come at the weekend) Don't know why I was concerned about what to wear, that's not me at all usually! I suppose I'm just out of practice, and what I had brought with me was fine. Back at the hotel now, having a cup of herbal tea before bed. It's been a lovely day and I'll be back with my GGJ again tomorrow.

We're booked in for breakfast at 9.15 so I'm sitting by the window watching the dogs walking past. It's so quiet without Joy! I hadn't realised how many sounds she makes, not necessarily barking, but little grunty snuffley squeaky sounds, loud yawns and moans and groans. It's much too quiet without her!:saddog:

Not long before you are reunited.

I know what you mean. When Tatze is out walking with Mr Boogs I keep looking round for her thinking ‘Tatze’s quiet’!

At breakfast I had a text from Shelli saying how much she is enjoying having Joy, that she's been as good as gold and she's about to put both dogs in the car for a good long walk, so don't rush back. We're now booked in for a look round York Minster at 11.30. I presume I will get my dog back at some stage!
