A horrible walk today

To the forest as usual and parked the car , we had passed a couple walking a little way before and as I got the dogs out of the car , they were there taking the same trail ( no dog ) .
As Reuben got out , the woman screamed , really screamed and began to run round our car waving her arms around and making an unholy row . Her husband then joined in, shouting and waving his stick at Reuben who barked at him but no nastiness , he doesnt know how to be nasty, he was scared . I shouted out to the woman to please stop running round , with which she tried to open a back door of our car to get in  I called Reubs up and slipped his lead on , the man was now shouting obscenities so I told them to walk on and I would let them get out of sight before starting my little meander . Off they went so I gave them five minutes and began my walk to the water . On my way back to the car I met a couple I know well , they have a border collie who is extremely nervous of everything and everyone so I rounded up our two and stood chatting for a minute , I told them to look out for the silly pair of people , oh she said , we have just seen them , they screamed at us to keep our dog away ( their dog is never off lead , not ever ) . Honestly , I accept that some people dont like dogs or are scared of them but this stupid womans behaviour was shocking , she wondered why Reuben barked when she tried to get in our car, would have served her right if I had let her and Paul had driven off

Is it appropriate to use the word cockwomble here or is that too nice?
It's too nice.

Really - how did they even manage to live as long as they have without giving themselves a coronary? How can you be in the world - especially CORNWALL - and not have come across your fair share of dogs? For their own sanity and safety, you'd think they would have figured to how to avoid places and circumstances that put them in such distress. I'm gobsmacked...

I find that people who are scared of dogs are always the ones that behave in a way to get the absolute worst response from dogs - nothing like screaming, waving arms and running to get a young dog level 10 in the blink of an eye :hmm: I also find they tend to hit up the places where dogs are welcome - like the time people were having a picnic in a DOG PARK....wtf

Anyone who has met Reuben knows that he is the daftest thing on four legs, talk about wind him up big style, it was her grabbing the door handle of our car that made him bark and I cant blame him for that . No doubt they came upon other dogs during their walk , its a very popular one with dog walkers because of the river so, good luck to them in trying to avoid our four legged friends x

Most peculiar behaviour ! We occasionally come across people up on Norland Moor who are afraid of dogs and it always seems such a strange place to choose for a walk if this is the case. To try and get into your car though! What was the reasoning behind that? Mind you it sounds like all reasoning had been abandoned by then!

I really dislike people with no self control. There are loads of things that we all don't like or are scared off, but we don't get silly. Most of it looks like attention seeking behaviour backed up by a swearing husband. I sorry you all had to put up with the idiotic woman child.

Well, let’s have a bit of sympathy for people with extreme phobias…. You can say they should keep away from areas like that but where do you suggest they go? Dogs are everywhere. They need a psych to help address the fear. Must be a crappy life at the moment.
Fair enough comment. Where do you go for a walk if you like walking but are dog phobic?
Still have some problems with the trying to get into Kate's car....think if I was so terrified of something that you tend to see every day that I was unable to react rationally I would probably be seeking help. Who knows the workings of someone else's mind though?
