A nail a day?

Yay! I've done one. I tried ordinary treats...nope. So I backed off. Then I put a slug of primula cheese on a plate and she didn't even notice me clip one nail while she was licking the cheese. I might put the cheese in a pyramid pan tomorrow, to give ME a bit more time - I felt rushed.

Strangely, Coco has now become awkward about his nails too

Hurrah! OK, so it seems that there are enough people who are interested that it's worth trying. I'll knock up a quick graphic we can use for keeping track of which nails we've cut, because I am bound to forget, especially with four dogs! :D

The only rule is that we can ONLY DO ONE NAIL A DAY. If you miss a day, no problem, but when you start up again ONLY ONE NAIL A DAY.

I'm going to start tomorrow, as I did one foot for each of mine this morning :D

Once I get my replacement GoPro (tomorrow night, hurrah!) I will take some video on occasion so I can see if there's any change in demeanour over time. Don't feel you have to do the same to join in. :)

I’m in. I’m useless at this and definitely make the mistake of ...”oh this is going well, it’s nice and quiet - let’s crack on and get them all done” 🙄

Stanley won’t let me anywhere his nails.

He’ll let me handle his paw no problem, as soon as the clippers come out they’re all tucked under him like absolutely not, not a chance!

He’s not as bad as with eye drops, but I just leave him to it and walk him on the pavement.

Good luck everyone! Thankfully this is something Snowie has no issues with. I recently learned that it’s so much easier to cut the nails while he’s standing with his paw tucked under, like holding a horse’s hoof. I get much better sight off the nail especially the quick, and it’s easier to part his toes to cut one nail at a time. When he’s lying down, I feel I am pulling his toes apart too much and it’s uncomfortable for him.

I’m in. Bought some clippers the other day as I figured Plum would prefer not to go to the vet for a trim.
She’s been ok with it but I was a bit “oo, I’ll just do one more” so one a day sounds a great plan, so simple but so good.
