A traumatic morning.

That’s excellent, really caring for you and GGJ. She must be a dog person!
Yes, she did tell me that she has a dog. I kind of guessed anyway by the sort of questions she was asking, although maybe that's just the protocol. Anyway, she sounds genuinely concerned and understanding and not at all like she thinks I'm just a mad old dog woman :giggl: (Ha! Fooled her there!)

About ten minutes ago I had a phone call from the police officer who's dealing with the case. She's got four days leave coming up and just wanted to catch up. She's now interviewed two of the three witnesses and is due to speak to the third after her leave. The CCTV footage is going to be checked tomorrow. She has had a further report from the vet. As regards Joy's and my Victim statement she wants me to keep a note of any post traumatic stress we may be feeling, such as anxiety about walking in certain areas and whether as a result of our experience I have to do any extra work with Joy to restore her confidence, or have to seek professional help/advice about this.
I have to say I am very impressed and pleased by the way in which she's dealing with this. I somehow hadn't expected this level of care and attention.
Perhaps it's because she somehow knows Joy's special !
When my darling Oscar cat was attacked and killed by the rabid dogs at the end of the street, the policeman who came was the most caring and incredible person. He offered to help Steve dig a grave and comforted me (I was hysterical) so very caringly.

Then, despite my loathing of all things local council, one shining star was the man given our case. He quickly came over and discussed the incident and then went and visited the bogan's who were minding the dogs. They were huge dogs and the girlfriend who was walking them weighed about as much as my cat did so she had NO chance to stop them. Poor Oscar was 17 and had dementia so that was why he was out on the street. I am quite sure, in hindsight, that we delayed having him PTS too long (lesson learnt)

Anyway, the bogan's were fined $11,000 ($5,500 per dog) for not being in control of a dog(s) and causing injury - but the actual owner came and whisked them away before they could be put down. The council guy never gave up and sent descriptions of the dogs and the man's car licence plate to every other council in NSW and finally they were tracked down.

It made a dreadful ordeal just that much easier to cope with having such lovely people in charge

I remember you telling the horrendous story of poor Oscar previously @Lab_adore
Good to hear of the fines and someone having the tenacity to follow through on it. I know it didn't emotionally compensate for what Oscar and you guys had to endure emotionally and physically but it helps to be listened to and be taken seriously and for your poor Oscar to be acknowledged as a member of the family.

Much much better, thanks!
She put her front paws up on the edge of the bed for our morning kisses and cuddles for the first time since she was attacked. This is part of our routine every day, so that was the first good sign. Another short walk on lead then back home where she pottered around after me for a while, then I found my slipper-socks halfway down the stairs and slightly soggy, as if they'd been licked, again very normal. I nipped out briefly for some supplies and on my arrival home was greeted by her running towards me wagging and bringing me her duck, again for the first time since last Friday. We had a careful ball game in the garden, with me rolling the ball rather than throwing it so she didn't have to jump and then she kindly helped me with grating the Parmesan for my pasta thisevening. Her wound looks really good, pretty much healed. Such a relief and lovely to have her back!
