Today we left our airbnb bungalow in Scunthorpe and have now arrived in Whittington (and I'm not sure if I'm in Cumbria or Lancashire - but it's a couple of miles from Kirkby Lonsdale.) I decided not to take the most direct route but to see some more of the countryside. So I drove up the A1 as far as the turning off to Bedale and then headed west. The first few miles were pleasant but didn't really look much different than Sussex so I turned off again onto a B road (not sure which one) and kind of meandered roughly westward until I cam across Aysgarth Falls. Hooray - I'd promised Molly we would find water today (living at the sea she's used to a daily dip.) The waterfall is beautiful but was very crowded so we walked up stream a bit - sadly you can't walk far upstream as there is a fence and 'private land' sign. But Molly really enjoyed her wade and I had a paddle too. Then we walked downstream - you can go further in this direction, but again eventually met a fence and the only footpath took us away from the river so we turned back.

We drove on and I loved the scenery from this point - steep craggy hillsides.
We are staying in a little 2 bedroomed house in a tiny village. It's much more luxurious than our last spot (but also of course more expensive.) There is a tiny courtyard garden at the back and Molly is loving having direct access to it (at home we don't have patio doors - you have to go around the side of the house to get tot he back garden.)

Tomorrow my brother and sister-in-law are coming to visit - they live about 30 minutes drive away - so I'm looking forward to that, and then next Rally is on Wednesday.
