An Ode

I stood in the garden
At quarter to three
in the rain, in my wellies
Awaiting the wee

The rain was torrential
Gale blowing out there
He played with a leaf
Not giving a care

I remembered some words
" Keep your humour " she said !
Then success at last
So we trudged back to bed

He thought it was time
To get up , eat and play
So we cuddled up close
Until snoring away

On what merry dance
Will he lead me today ?
But it doesn't matter
He`s here, to stay xx

Were you composing that while shivering in the rain and watching the dear boy play with a leaf - so true though. Brilliant ode.
No , it came to me as I cuddled a still dampish puppy close to me , wondering what the hell I had done and yet knowing it was the right thing to do !! I cant grumble , its the first time he has had me out at an ungodly hour , though I`m sure it wont be the last ! xx

I might add that, having never warmed up following my cold very wet nocturnal foray , I decided that a hot shower was the order of the day , to waken me and warm me up ! As I didn't want Reuben to wake Paul and Nelly , I stupidly left the bathroom door open , having taken the precaution of moving the toilet roll holder to higher ground first ! I heard him , from behind the curtain , messing about , and as I opened the shower curtain , I saw the bathmat slowly disappearing through the open door , then realised that he had also decided to drag the nice warm towels from the radiator and into the kitchen ! Not a dull moment ! xxx
