No idea unfortunately. That first photo looks a bit like the start of a hot spot, but you say the skin is dry and not bothering him so...? And I think demodex manage is dry but usually quite itchy. Maybe ask the vet for a skin scraping if you're worried?

It could be a lot of things allergic reaction, hot spot, seasonal alopecia Cushing's incomplete moulting thyroid problems ring worm or a hormonal imbalance. It's difficult to know I'd speak to a vet if you are concerned. At the moment Rory's having a reaction to tree pollen and is back on medicated shampoo and apoquel.
Looking closely at the photo the hairs dear look a bit damaged does he scratch it?

No, he doesn’t scratch. It’s the hair falling out. I brushed him this morning and a lot of hair came out so the spot is larger. It’s not his seasonal moulding, the things you mentioned what it could be also came into my mind. Finns mum had thyroid problems while she was expecting.… I’m not that concerned, it’s just that I noticed this yesterday and thought it strange. He is happy and it doesn’t bother him at all. He is chasing birds and squirrels in our garden this very moment!
So for us it’s just waiting what happens. But I’ve never noticed this in our former dogs, so I thought maybe someone has had this also….

Rory has developed bald spots and had hair loss over the years. He has to be put on meds occasionally to help this and it's easy to handle. We just put it down to seasonal alopecia and allergies after bloods and other testing. If you have foxes around mange is a possibility but if he's not scratching it's probably not. As Finn's not scratching I think I would get it checked as it could be a skin infection just starting. It's not in an area that's been rubbed against something?

Now that you mentioned it, my Rottie Brogan had hair loss as part of his thyroid problems that showed up as a senior. I don't remember it being in patches like that, but I can't remember exactly what it was! It was easily fixed with a daily tablet though - maybe worth checking out?

I remember when Ella had ringworm, it started out with a thinning patch of fur. Hers was on her face though so became a bald spot quite quickly.

I wonder if it could be something similar?
