Arthritis

We took Stilton to the physio today to have a look at front and hind limbs, as we've noticed some changes in motion and wanted to check them out. It does look like he's got inflammation in both his elbows. I'm really sad about this, but not suprised - ever since he was a few months, we've noticed on and off that he held his front left leg out occasionally, but a physio visit didn't identify anything back then.

We're going to make further investigations and assess more thoroughly, probably with imaging; but I think we're on the same road now that we're on with Kipper. For now, Stilton needs to lose 3 kilos - he's a solid 35kg which has rather shocked us!

Sorry to hear this about Stilton. It took a while and a fair bit of trial and error, but together with a very helpful vet we managed to find a combination of treatments that keeps Joy's arthritis manageable, so she's still able to enjoy most of her favourite activities. The vet (who is also an animal physio) said that different treatments seem to work better for different dogs, and that it's often a matter of trial and error before finding the right 'match'.
I just thought that if you didn't already know this it might be useful . Hope you find whatever is best for Stilton.

Argh that's a bit of a blow, I am sorry. However, hopefully with physio and other treatment you'll be able to manage it well. Big hugs.

I am sorry to hear about this news, it’s very understandable how you are feeling  Stilton landed the jackpot when he went home with you, like said above, he’s in the best hands! You all still have countless amazing memories to look forward to. One day at a time ❤

Sorry for no reaction but I forgot my password, could not get it reset, life got a little too busy and just tried another password and got back in. Sorry about Stilton but you know what is best for him and for you.. My OH really struggled when we had Hunter's elbow diagnosis. As you know it is a mindset change to their whole daily schedule. X

No sorry needed, and thank you for the message - you’re absolutely right that it’s mindset change and this puts it beautifully; as we both know, there’s a whole spectrum of directions this could go in, so we take it a day at a time and work out what we’re dealing with x
