At the vets again!

Honestly I need some type of frequent flyer miles!

Mas has been acting a bit weird, keeps jumping and then becoming really barky totally unable to be calmed down... only started yesterday. I’ve just checked his ears and he’s got a raging ear infection

Currently sitting in the vets!

Vet told us after a single ear infection last year that we should clean Lilly's ears every time she got wet, including after going out in the rain!

It is pants though, hope you get better soon Mas xx

I know this won’t help in your immediate circumstances, but I find that cleaning ears every day prevents problems. Every time Snowie goes into the pool, when I dry him off, I also give his ears a quick clean with the towel. And about once or twice a week, a better clean with a tissue or toilet paper wrapped around my finger and a good wipe out of the outer ear, in the folds, and at the entrance to his ear canal. And then, if needed, I use earbuds to clean well in between the folds of the outer ear. Since I’ve been doing this—it’s been years and years—he’s never had an infection. Because I’m always checking, I can see if they’re redder than usual, or dirtier, and that’s when I do the deep clean with the earbuds into the folds of the outer ear and a good clean out of the entrance to the ear canal.

I sometimes wonder if only dogs have dirtier and more-often infected ears than dogs in multi-dog families. They always seem to be licking and cleaning each other’s ears.

Wispa seems more prone to ear infections than Tuppence. I think it just depends on the dog.

I hope Mas’s ear is better soon. Ear infections seem to appear very quickly, often seemingly for no particular reason.

It's seems to be the ear shape my older dogs had smaller ear holes and slightly differently shaped and angled to Rory's. They had ear infections Rory's doesn't I look fo open ears in my dogs. Rorys ears sit differently on his head and ate less hairy inside too. Just I weird theory I have I think Rory's ears are better designed than Doug's or moos were. Rory likes me messing with his ears he growns and falls over.
