Barney has been found !!!!!

I don’t even know how I missed this earlier!! I’m soooo happy to see this, the tears are flowing. So so sooo relieved ❤

SOOOOOOOO HAPPPPPYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

This is the BEST news!

Was the fisherman searching for him or just luckily happened upon him while out fishing? And how far down the river was he? Had Kathryn been this far down to search?

I also thought he was a spaniel. Ginger.

I must say I never quite gave up hope, as I know dogs are incredibly tough and tenacious.

When I was a child we had a Jack Russell terrier, a real scrapper and a bagload of trouble... When he was 12 he got lost on a walk and was gone for five days. He eventually turned up at our back door, filthy and skinny, with horrible wounds around his neck and particularly around his back end. The vet reckoned he had gone down a fox or badger hole and had got into a fight down there, probably with two animals, and that the reason the wounds around his bottom were so bad was because he couldnt defend himself from behind. At any rate, he was so tough that despite his age, despite having been stuck in a hole, despite the desperate fight - he got himself out and found his way home. He had to have a big operation to deal with the gangrene, but he recovered, and lived another happy four years.

That's why I hadn't given up on Barney...

He was found a long way down , thinking about it now, it must be about two miles down river from where he disappeared ! The two men who found him didn't even know that he had been missing , they just saw a very confused and distressed old lad, managed to coax him to them , and found the tag on his collar . Kathryn had been out searching with a friend , and on her way home, her mobile rang so she stopped and answered the call , it was one of the men to say they had her dog ! They met at Treverbyn Bridge , about two miles from Golitha , the men had carried him to their car, bless their hearts ! We think that the likelihood is that he was indeed swept down river but somehow managed to scramble out onto the far side where it is dense woodland , and wandered a while in a confused state , he was way beyond the place that had been searched and in such dense undergrowth that the drone missed him. The Vet thinks he may have banged his head on rocks and had concussion , so he just curled up . Kathryn says he is much brighter this morning , has wagged his tail and is eating small meals . Its ironic that the river that swept him down also saved his life as he was able to drink .
You`re so right Karen, dogs are so wonderful , they seem to find this strength from somewhere, survival mode kicks in , these two men are the stars here , bless them xxxx

Oh my word, just imagining Kathryn answering her phone and hearing “we have your dog”. Heart stopping, in the best way.

I’ve heard of many a dog that was found miles from where it went lost. Who knows why. Perhaps they were picked up by a kind soul, then ran away. But the thing is not to stop looking.
