Beaver Cottages is located at Tregatta, a small village just outside Tintagel. There are two cottages, The Lodge and The Smithy. We took the Smithy for a week and were very impressed with the size of the cottage and the decor. It's a nice size for two people and a dog with plenty of space to spread out. The owners, Nicola and Steve Rumming, have put a lot of effort into the decoration and fittings, recently refurbishing the kitchen and bathroom, and have made a nice job of it.
The entrance area is a tiled corridor with hanging space and somewhere for muddy boots. There's a nice living room with French Windows to an enclosed garden and space for a dog bed. The kitchen/breakfast room has lots of space. The hall has a nice alcove for luggage or a dog bed, and stairs lead up to a bedroom with sea views and the largest cottage bathroom I've seen!
Outside the door there is a parking area, and an outhouse with washing machine & drier which is shared with the other cottage. WiFi is available throughout.
A stile by the door leads across three fields to the coast path. The cottage is a minute's walk from a bus shelter on the coastal bus route so it's easy to take the bus away from the cottage and walk back. Its about 20 minutes walk down a lane and across the common to Tintagel.
Nicola and Steve pay attention to the little details. There was milk and drinking materials in the fridge when we arrived, dog biscuits for Holly, and a map showing walks and the locations of poop bins. We wanted to do a 7 mile walk back to the cottage from Port Isaac so Nicola gave us a lift to the start of the walk. Their mindset is to make sure that people and dogs enjoy their stay.
They're quite happy to take more than one dog. Their attitude is that it makes no difference whether they hoover up after one dog or three! This cottage comes highly recommended for anyone wanting a break in Cornwall.
