Bed Liner

I’m looking for a decent padded blanket / mattress for Ripple's large plastic dog bed, to go under his vetbed; I think I remember @Candy saying she bought one for Tess which was disappointingly thin. It really needs to be easily washable as well. Has anyone got any recommendations?

I used to use a sharples "soft and snug" padded insert for a plastic dog bed, available on amazon. Not v cheap for larger sizes and Brodie ate the filling so we had to stop using it but before that was a really good solution as a washable but snuggly dog bed for Jess. I can send a link if you cant find it on google.

There is a B and M in Yarmouth, so not too far away, although there is some strange one way system which means if you miss the entrance (which I did several times when we first moved here  ) you have to drive for about a mile and a half before you can turn round. That’s somewhere else I’d never thought of looking.

I found that Sharples one on google, that looks nice. But I do have to be careful as Toffee gets in Ripple's bed and 'sucks' the vetbed, and then I find it has a big hole in it  .

Red has a plastic dog bed for nighttime. I just lay a piece of vet bed in it so it covers the base and sides. You’ve got me thinking now - should I put something under the vet bed to make it more comfortable? She’s always keen to get in it at bedtime

I've used a single duvet. I have a tuffies bed don't use anymore. Rory wont use it neither will Iver. It fits 2 labs. I also have 2 tuffies puppy flat beds. They are great one for the living room and one in the car. I like tuffies

@Atemas I always thought Ripple was fine in his plastic bed at night but just recently he’s been reluctant to leave the Orvis bed he has in the lounge. I don’t really like him having the Orvis bed overnight as I never know what he might be likely to throw up, depending on what he’s eaten on his afternoon walk :puke: .

The tuffies liner has a padded base to buy separately - approx £90 for Ripple's bed , OH was a bit  when I showed him.

They are sealed units water proof and pretty chew proof. I'd just use a cheap single duvet if theres a chance he'll puke. You can just chuck em when the get stained or smelly

Joy has a Joules bed for her downstairs bed ,( that's the one that Tess really likes) a plastic bed on the landing with a soft cushion from Pets at Home in it on the landing ( put there to stop her tearing up the carpet as a pup every time I was in the bathroom!) and I bought her a Memory Foam bed for the bedroom which she didn't like so it now has the old spare room double duvet on it covered with a snuggley but washable blanket. She seems happy enough with this arrangement. Oh, and that's not counting her smart faux fur bed at Little Brother's house and the very nice bed that Liz bought her for when we stay with her! As I've remarked before, not spoilt at all, my dog!:shake:

I have put a folded bath towel in the base of her bed and laid the vet bedding over it
Unfortunately Ripple would just eat the towel  .
I did have a nice piece of covered memory foam but Ripple dug a hole in it and then ate it.
I keep looking at those tuffies mattress beds but a couple of the reviewers say their dogs managed to chew a hole in those.
Its interesting because Ripple doesn’t eat his vet bed, yet Toffee will - I guess nothing is really dog proof if they’re determined.

All these lucky dogs. Carbon gets his IKEA baby bed or Brogan's old bed from Italy if the wants during the day, but mainly he's on the sofa and then I force him (poor baby) to sleep in bed under the duvet with me. If he didn't I'd freeze my backside off. But it also is practical in that apparently (from reading here) it saves me a lot in proper dog beds.

(also cuddling him at night with my Kindle is my favourite time of the day, so he doesn't even get off the hook in summer when I don't need him for heat 😏 )

I’ve ordered an inexpensive water resistant dog 'mattress' from zooplus with some good reviews, to see how he gets on with that. If that doesn’t work for him then putting in an extra layer of vet bed might be the best idea.
He loves the Orvis bed which is memory foam so I don’t understand why he ate the other memory foam mattress  .
