Best value for money

Sometimes I buy cheap equipment for the dogs and find that they are brilliant and sometimes I buy expensive things and find that they are great value for money.

My best cheap buys are slow feeders bought from Tiger (everything there is £2) which have been superb at getting the dogs to eat their breakfast kibble slowly.

Also cheap were some non spill dog bowls for the car which have been in daily use for about 3 years. £1.70 each from Trago Mills.

My best expensive buys have been without doubt the HiK9 beds that I bought for the dogs as I was concerned about them coping with the underfloor heating in the kitchen. The dogs love them and I have put soft pads to make them even more special. The beds never seem to smell unlike other dog beds and I think it’s because they are raised and therefore dry out. They have been such a success that all other beds have been given or thrown away.

Second best most expensive purchase has been their made to measure biothane collars. Bingley has worn his continuously for two years and it’s as good as new. They don’t smell and don’t ever seem to get dirty. Diesel have to have a new one last year as he put on so much weight! They were made by Biothane Bert. I realise that for some of you with your collar shopping habit this would not be a selling point!

Ooh, good idea....

Best value cheap..... the raised beds from Bunty, doing well 18 months on. From Aldi the light up collar and lead, super quality. Also their kong like chew toys are very sturdy and going strong after 2 years.

My flashing cycle lights from China... less than a pound each and they even worked after going through a hot wash and fast spin 🙄
I think my large mason cash conical water bowl was a bargain at £7.
Wilkos chew toy that is great for stuffing 4 gravy bones in.... it's a bit phallic (think @Emily Ella's) stick) but brilliant value at £4.

Best value expensive... Copenhagen harness, natch,! And all the busy buddy chew toys (they are the purple ones, my fave is squirrel dude 😆) are incredibly robust.

I agree about the raised dog beds, although mine aren't HiK9. I have Bunty ones which cost me £17.99 2 1/2 years ago. We are moving to a house with underfloor heating so am glad I have them. I also put vetbed on top for extra comfort. No other dog bed has come close to these, no smell, easy to wash, no brainer.

My other inexpensive buy was Hattie's dog bowls that I bought when she was a puppy. Cheap ones from Pets at Home, they still use them 11 1/2 years on.

No comment on the collar purchases!! :$ xx

I have 7 Coolaroo raised beds in Spain and they’re great, although I only use them outside. In fact, they live outside. They have a tiny bit of rust on the bolts, but have lasted two years so far (being outside 24/7/365) and other than that tiny bit of rust are just like new.
I vaguely look at the Hi-K9 ones every now and again but with the Coolaroos being so cheap (I think the last ones I bought were on offer at about €15), I can’t justify it.

I hadn’t heard of these @Natalie, I might try them for Toffee, hopefully they will last longer than the red kongs  .
Have a look on vet UK, that's where I found them, they actually look a lot cheaper now.

Search Results : VetUK Selling Pet Meds and Pet Products to Pet Owners.

Go for squirrel dude or the twist n treat, as they are both very strong. (Not the puppy version)

But Monty's never done what Toffee did to a Kong... 😀

There's also the Nerf toys, I bought one on a whim from crufts, they were very strong too.

Lidl Flashing LED collars £2,99 (Gone up to £4.99 last December 2018). Three light settings and 2 spare batteries. Metal fastener. They do three sizes. Had mine 5 years now and not needed to change the batteries yet, although they are used everyday in the autumn and winter. . Sometimes sell them off 30% cheaper if not all sold after 2 weeks. I have brought two in the sale as spares.
