I am looking for a book that will learn me about gundogtraining. As our new puppy is a field trail breed I want to know more about the upbringing and training of him. I just saw a video of the breeder when she wistled when scattering some food and others reacted to this as it was a territorial wistle….I didn’t know this. So in order to prep myself I want to read about this, so that I can continue to raise him as gundog or should I say field dog…..

You might like Retrieving for All Occasions by Elsa Blomster and Lena Gunnarson, or Clicker Gundog by Helen Phillips. I don't know if there are any more recent positive reinforcement gundog training books available.

I think though it's nice to have a good +R trainer if you can find one.

Yes I found one! Perhaps 2…..…We are getting him on the 11th January and on the 17th I will start the training. But I want to know more….

I was trying to remember that one! I see she has one called The Advanced Pet Gundog, I have asked for that for my birthday in January.
