Boots.

I've got some grub short boots and wellies as well as muck boots. They are all good warm comfortable dry and easy to walk in. I would recommend any of them

@Candy my go-to walking boots are Lowa Renegades. They last me a couple years each hard wear but the last two pairs have had issues with the seams. I do use them in salt water constantly and run them under the tap to get the mud off, so I really should have treated them better. For comfort I'd definitely recommend them but for durability....meh. For (now) EUR 200, I want at least three years out of them.

I also have had Salomon hikers for years. They wear like iron, keep water out even sloshing through surf, are super comfy and I love the quick cinch laces However, they are admittedly ugly. :ROFLMAO:

I've just ordered a pair of Dublin Pinnacle Grain boots which are meant to be for walking (that's my excuse) but are really too pretty for that - can't imagine sloshing through the surf with them until they are at least a year old. That's even if they fit when they arrive. So far I've ordered Muck Boots which are going back (no tread and poor quality for the price) and a pair of Aigles which are going back (right and left foot two different sizes).

I still have hope for the trip to Mole Valley with @kateincornwall for some proper Wellies. As @Beanwood rightly pointed out, the quest for boots is my new obsession!

Thankyou for all your replies. Today I went boot shopping in Hebden Bridge. I had rung Scarpa three times but was just put on hold with music playing for too long. Found this very very helpful man in the Hebden Bridge shop. He asked me lots of questions about the kind of walking I do and how I take care of my boots. He absolutely didn't try to sell me anything, just advised. He agreed that for what my Scarpa boots cost, they should have lasted longer, but said that they had probably cracked because I dried them by the radiator. He didn't feel that for the sort of walking I do I need boots at Scarpa prices. He understood why I had wanted my boots to dry quickly as I needed again the next morning. He agreed that it might be best to buy two pairs of cheaper boots and wear them on alternate days so that they'd have a chance to dry out properly, but suggested I try one pair of cheaper ones first, then go back for another pair if I like them. I have ended up with a pair of Grisports boots, costing £79.99 ( so two pairs would still cost me less than my pair of Scarpa boots) and a lot of helpful advice on how to look after them. Have come away very pleased, looking forward to wearing new boots tomorrow and coming home with dry feet!

Is this going to take three years and then you’ll eventually realise that your perfect boots are the ones you’ve been carrying around in your car for the last year? :wasntme:
Ooo...that took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about. Bad woman! :donttalk:

On the other hand, maybe I'd better go check my car to make sure I don't have the world's best pair of boots already back there!

I'm irrationally excited about my Dubin boots arriving tomorrow. I really hope they fit!

Meanwhile I continue my quest to return my Muck Boots. They do NOT seem to want them back as so far five emails have gone unanswered. They could end up becoming very expensive house slippers.
I love my Dublin boots. they are quite generous, snug and waterproof. I shall wear them in the summer too (they were expensive, need to get my money's worth!)
