Bringing me things

I am so glad that I have trained the Pig to give me things for a kibble. I was thinking it was counterproductive because she was sometimes hunting around for things to bring me which was annoying when you’ve been handed your flip flops, an oven glove and a gardening glove whilst trying to watch tv. But the other day she came in with something in her mouth which I asked for and thank god she gave me - it was a bunch of sharp nails held together with a cardboard strip! We have builders in at the moment and I am very careful scouting the garden for dangerous things but must have missed this and I wouldn’t have put it past her to try swallowing them because she likes eating cardboard.

It did mean that when she stayed at my parents’ this weekend she kept ‘delivering’ greetings cards to them that she found in the house, and once also a matching envelope she found in their recycling box!

She is a precious Pig. Harley is also a gift bringer. The best is when the cat pinch something, they like small packets of tissues etc, and then Harley will get it and bring it to me. I can see by the look on her face this was something her brothers had, and she is proudly bringing it to me. Because she is a good girl and they are not. The smugness is beautiful on her face.

Haha I can imagine her face, “look mum I am a Good Dog, not like those Bad Norty Cats!”

We always know when Maxx has pinched something. (1) He stampedes around the house with it (2) He dances in to wherever we are and grins at us with it in his mouth and waits for us to move before running off (3) the tail is straight up and wagging like crazy; you can see it from just about any position. I'm afraid I did the wrong thing by chasing him to try and retrieve it and he just ADORES being chased. It has impacted his 'drop it' now so it's back to basics. Again.

I think this about +R training in general. Cassie does things like dropping an item in a box or wrapping it up in a blanket, and then sitting and looking at me --- I say "find it" or "where is it?" -- and she gets it back out! With such pleasure as if she's the cleverest dog in the world! Makes my heart flip:love:
Well, she does sound as if she is the cleverest dog I the world :D Very creative.
