Hehehe. I just got this, from my sister who is currently holidaying in the south of Spain...
Last night... Hilarious...
So, we’re at this lovely typical Spanish restaurant (mostly outdoors, amazing food, dog-friendly, plasticised menus...) and the waiter delivers us a basket of bread... sans butter... standard... Steve thanks the waiter, and then proceeded to ask for butter... except he didn’t... the waiter looked surprised... and although I didn’t recognise the word, I knew it wasn’t Spanish for butter... Steve repeated his request. I looked at him quizzically. As did the waiter. I asked Steve what he had asked for. “Butter”, he replies... “Er, I don’t think you did...” “Oh, shit! Mantequilla, por favor!”
I get out the Spanish book we have for just such occasions...
“What did I ask for?”
“Burro. You called the waiter a donkey...”
???
