Canine Arthritis Management

I noticed that Black Retriever X Rescue FB page had this site recently shared on their page.
It struck me as a very useful resource, full of information for dogs and their owners with arthritis.
I liked their pyramid approach with the following steps discussed in detail

• Owner identifying pain
• Weight management
• Home environment adaptations
• Modifying exercise routines
• Diet and nutrition
• Complementary therapies
• Anti-inflammatory medication
• Further veterinary interventions

I feel the site was well laid out with resources and information including a Home Assesssment Tool, guest/expert interviews on their blog, as well as a forum.
There are a lot of us with dogs who have arthritis or joint issues already, and I think the information is really useful, but also essential reading too for those wanting to prevent joint issues.
I would really recommend taking a look at the Canine Arthritis website.

I have arthritis myself. I find it easy to ignore the pain during the day, but not at night so that’s when I use painkillers. I wonder if it’s the same for dogs?

Yes I am the same @Boogie. I have just had a course of MBST for my knees and noticing an improvement already. Sky is so stalwart - I must look at this site.

I'm sure it is - it's the stiffness after inactivity. You can certainly see Lilly if she has had an "over-active" day, liming a little when she gets up to shift position on her beanie in the evening.

What is MBST?

It’s Magnetic Resonance Therapy - still newish to this country and a bit controversial. If you ‘google’ MBST you will see where I go in Rutland. Not available on the NHS and unfortunately very expensive (I am going without other things to fund this). I used to have a very bad back and had a course of MBST about 10 years ago when it was very new in this country. It’s been transformational so I’m hoping will do same for my knees - so far so good!

Yes sorry ? - they were everywhere during my career and I hated then too.
