Casper

We said goodnight to the most gentle, wonderful soul on Sunday. He was 15 years old and one day. Our hearts are quite simply broken.

Casper was a free spirit, and we loved him for it, even though at times his idea of "free spirit" got him into trouble. Not with us though. I will never forget when we took him to a posh photo studio. We walked over a pretty bridge, studio to the left - herd of heritage cows to the right. We didn't get any photos from that shoot, shame because the action shots would have been spectacular!

It seems unreal that he is gone, even with 6 dogs his presence is so missed. His bed is in the corner, with his blanket still. The other dogs go over there, and just pause. It is so sad.

I’m so sorry, Kate. Casper was a true Irish gentleman and Carbón and I both loved him.

My favorite Casper story is when he took himself off to the pub and you got a call to come and give him a lift back. Norty boy, but oh so funny. As @HAH said, a legend.

It is so very painful when we lose our dogs, they become part of us, somehow spirit to spirit and it is such a special relationship. The pain does ease eventually but they are never forgotten. I am deeply sorry for the loss of such a wonderful dog.
