Cat food cost vs dog food

For fun I decided to do the math to see exactly how much it costs to feed them their kibble a week, simply to just compare Axel and Gizmo. Not including treats, or recreational bones, just kibble.

So for the same sized bag of food, 11.4kg (I had to double Gizmo’s smaller bag to make this work)

Gizmo- 11.4kg bag will last him 140 days - $4.5 a week to feed (about to be less because Mr Fat Cat is on a diet)

Axel- 11.4kg will last 14 days - $45 a week to feed

I just found it funny the comparison

Oh my gosh.. how much does Axel eat?! ?

I’ve just done a quick currency conversion and you spend almost as much a week feeding Axel as I spend a month feeding Stanley.. he only gets through 6kg a month ??

Lilly gets a 12kg bag of kibble and it lasts around 6-7 weeks (a pricier brand, £43 approx a bag online)
No idea of the exact weight these days but around 100-120g per meal, 2 meals a day. That is an 80/20 grain free food. We measure by cup and I guess I vary it a bit depending on how many extras she has had in a day.
Hey, Stanley - I think your mum has you on starvation rations

I wish I knew exactly how long a bag of food lasts at our house but I don't pay attention...I think approx. 6 weeks for an 11.3kg (25lb) bag. so about $15 a week. She get two cups kibble per day.

Homer gets a 15kg bag of kibble for £50 with lasts a month.

If and when and how I decide to change Homer to home cooked Hubby's put the limit to £2 per day.

I wonder how much our (human) food bill is. I can calculate our general groceries but that includes cleaning products and other bits and bobs.

Coco has 15kg Skinners - about £23 - which lasts approx. 3 months. In that time he would also have 7 trays of Winalot (cheap) wet food tins at about £6.50 per tray. £68.50 for 3 months of kibble & wet food - £5.70 per week ? Bless him, he's cheap.

Talking about kibble, while I was having a brain fart and thinking that Squidge being on a limited diet meant she could only have kibble, I ordered a bag of Fish4Dogs salmon for her. It arrived yesterday - well, I can use it for training treats. But, wow does it ever stink! I made the mistake of opening it to grab a handful before a walk and then leaving it in a back room without putting it into one of the plastic bins. By the time I got back, the whole house stank of it. I opened the door and nearly passed out from the reek.
