My poor son is in bits tonight, today he had to have his beloved mate Bobby put to sleep, aged 12. He was a working collie that he had had from birth, when my boy was just 15. He, Bobby, always lived on his Dad's farm of course, he was a good sheepdog. So he has formed a big part of my son's young life, through GCSE s and A levels , first relationships and uni days and always being overjoyed when P came home from travelling.
He did live with us for a while, I can't remember why, but he'd never lived in the house before although he hadn't been housetrained there were no accidents. It was during the time when my two partied hard and worked hard -- it was a cycle of work/shower/party/shower work 24/7. One morning I woke at 4 am to the sound of the Tv blaring, came stomping downstairs in a fury only to find Bobby on the sofa, lying on the Tv remote and having switched it on, had the Simpsons on full volume

So good bye Bobby Boy -- we hope you are working those sheep up in the sky, checking those peemails left on the farm and of course, watching the Simpsons as much as you can. Oh, and eating all manner of detritus that only farm dogs get to do !!
