Chewie has a sore shoulder

He is definitely better overall and seems much happier than before. He has let out the occasional yelp on waking/sudden movements (once or twice a day) but he is sleeping much better and is able to settle down after the yelp very quickly whereas he couldn't before. We are out of carprofen and have another day of Gabapentin. Back to the vet on Wednesday for a follow up. My brain keeps going to bad places and wondering how he will cope if he has chronic pain and wondering if this will be life shortening. :(

Try not to.
There are as many positive stories as negative.
Lilly and here severe hip dysplasia which was diagnosed at a year old. We automatically assumed it would limit her life both quality and length, but clearly not much!
Switch your brain to positive stories if you can xx

Thank you! I think being medical and out of control, and also the fact that I can't take a history from Chewie is so hard... Thanks for reminding me about Lilly.

Snowie had a slipped disc (L7/S1) at 4 years old. I thought that was the end of him. But thankfully he recovered. He had recurrences of severe back pain for a few years. But touch wood his back has been fine for years now. Stiff at times, but he is coming in for 13 years, so that could also be old age. I thought a disc problem was forever. But laser treatment was very helpful and he recovered well. I hope Chewie’s pain is temporary and that he heals well. xxx

I've moved his Wednesday appt to today because he is clearly worse off (though better than last night). I've also told OH I dont want them bringing their dog around until Cewie is better, or coming over at all this Thursday like they normally do. I'm too angry.

Having seen him again the vet thinks it could be a brachial plexus injury, which is good because it's more likely to heal. She gave us a heap of meds and said to give it a month of rest and regular pain relief. And if still not better to do imaging. I think that's a good plan. I need to up my enrichment game!

Chewie became very distressed today while I was at the dentist. We have made an appointment with the neurologist for tomorrow at the small animal hospital.

I'm so worried and angry. He hasn't been the same since the weekend.

OH is taking the morning off work to take him to the vet. He is in the garden avoiding is at the moment.

Also, we are meant to be going to see Alice Roberts (the archaeologist) speak tomorrow, but that:a off now. Regardless of what happens with Chewie I just don't want to see the in laws.
