Coco used to retrieve didn't he? I remember watching your videos of him way back when I was starting out with Cassie.

Yes indeed he did. He's still good at marked retrieves with a regular dummy, but only for a couple - he gets distracted easily now. I'm not sure how to make it more engaging for him, or if that's what he really wants. He was keen to have a go with the pheasant because it was new, but more interested in playing with it! He seems to love the initial set up - we walk out, he heels & sits, I throw. I send him and off he bounds, but often he gets there and decides sniffing is more interesting, and to be honest, he's nearly 12 and if he wants to sniff then I think I should let him be.
Now I'm doing 5 or 6 with Meg (we're onto 2 dummies with direction now), then 1 or 2 with Coco.

Sure . It's just I remember those video's as aspirational when I was seeking the key to get Cass to enjoy retrieving.
