Coco's tum

Coco had a flare up of his ?colitis on Saturday night. I'm only adding a thread here so I can track it. It's infrequent (6 months since his last bout) and we haven't sought veterinary input so far.
He ate his supper as normal according to OH - I was out that evening. I came in, went to bed and an hour later he was up. I thought he only wanted a poo or a wee, he then he came back in.
He then got up another 7 times! He was pacing and stretching all time. After the 8th time OH lost his patience (hang on there, he's only got up twice to let him out) and just left the back door open so Coco could come and go. (but, of course, it was getting light so he was barking at stuff through the window, and when Coco barks so must Meg, so that backfired a little).

He was miserable next morning, had no breakfast, continued with his pacing and stretching and straining to poo (small blobs with blood).

By tea time he was hungry and begging for his tea. By our tea time he was really begging for sirloin steak off-cuts. His poo wasn't back to normal, but I'll see what today brings. He slept through last night, as did we.

Poor Coco. Must’ve been so uncomfortable. Have you considered a warm towel over his abdomen to relax his muscles? You can put a tea towel in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up.

And I totally commiserate with getting up all night and the subsequent exhaustion! Snowie is needing to go out at around 2am every night now. I guess an elderly bladder! Last night he slept through cos he’d had a lovely long outing during the day and I guess was exhausted. What a treat to sleep through the night!

The stretching is something I'm familiar with. Rory seems to do it when food or gas is lodged. He's very uncomfortable pacing and agitated too. Sound of or he's straining with Rory it's often something weird he's eaten. He does return to normal quickly if it's been something lodged in the pipes. There's been a lot of doggy tummy bugs going round here.

Touch wood, Coco has always been back to his usual self within 24 hours, this time is no exception. He does have lingering foul wind though 🤢

There's a thought (should it happen again). Last time, I gently rubbed his tummy, which seemed to help him.
