Cutting back on home cooked

I'm stopping proper cooking from today. I've got some complementary wet food, a tin of sardines a week and chicken wings. However, is there any value in cooking up the veggie left overs I'm not cooking for us? Broccoli stems, cauliflower leaves and a Swede? Just to add a bit of fibre1584890481876490804907617908188.jpg

I'm blanching the cauliflower for us to freeze, and the broccoli. I don't know whether I'm taking it to an extreme trying to use up the stalk and leaves on Monty? Don't like Swede so he can have that ( it was part of a stew pack reduced)

I actually like turnips/ swede but mashed with lots of butter and pepper. It's one of the few veg I do eat. I would never be able to change to vegetarian, I would starve.

Yes I agree. I’ve started collecting any leftover bits and pieces that I don’t give the dogs (onion ends, cauliflower leaves, the tough end parts of leeks, cooked chicken bones etc) in a bowl in the freezer, and when I have enough I boil it all up for a wonderful stock. NOTHING gets wasted in our house!

When I lived on my own with three children , money was very tight .I remember making the best soup ever . It was made from well washed potato peelings , then all the leaves of sprouts , cabbage and carrot peelings , all done in the pressure cooker , we had it with home made bread , make do and mend xx

AAARRRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Just feed a diet that is based on chicken/white fish, and veggies that aren't brassicas or dark greens. Easy :)
My mix is about 50%-75% (by volume) chicken and fish (I use hake and catfish generally, as they're low in mercury, and have included monkfish more recently as I've struggled to find the others). Then I use courgette, butternut squash, carrot, green beans, turnip, parsnip...

Oh, and also, it's not like "zOMG, I can never feed these things", just don't feed them most of the time. You're just trying to avoid the Xanthine crystals forming - which isn't a given anyway.
