Dead fish

Yesterday there was a warning comment on our local neighbourhood forum to say that many dead fish were noticed in the area where the brook that goes through the common joins the River Thames.

There is no information yet as to the cause but hot weather, lightning and reduced oxygen levels or an outbreak of blue green algae have been mentioned or it could be something sinister.

Stopping Homer going for a swim either in the river or the brook will be a challenge until we get the all clear.

I have heard that the dead fish were to low water levels. Not for definite but from a fellow dog walker.
No swim this morning though just to be on the safe side.

That's happened here too, Colchester castle park has the same problem but no-one seems to know why. I thought it might be oxygen levels as there is a huge amount of weed this year.
