Dirty paws

Autumn is on its way. What do our members use to clean our dogs paws when they come in from a walk wet or muddy.

I have been use towels to clean Fred and Annie's paws, but wonder if I should try something else with Fred's arthritis in his paws.

Has any one used Earth rated dog wipes?

Yes, its the beginning. I managed to get my lane sorted out so it is not as bad as last year,
There was a mains leak that turned the lane into a river. I think I need to keep Fred's paws as dry and clean as I can to help him.
Of course Annie will get the same treatment :giggl:

Epsom salt soaks are good for arthritis. But I don’t think the solution to your immediate need for clean paws!

Could you have a bucket of water at the door that you can use to dip each paw and dry it?

We’ve found that Biotane in alcohol has been excellent for Snowie’s paws. Cleans and disinfects (yeast infection) but leaves them dry. The other soaks left them damp, which is not good for getting rid of yeast. I put some on cotton wool pads and wipe all the crevices of his paws. Also cleans them—the cotton wool is dirty after this.

I am in awe of you all for managing to clean and dry any part of a dog after a walk. It's like wrestling a greased pig, and the pig always wins. I am resigned to cleaning the floors and furnishings.
Well yes, me too!
But then I am extremely lucky that Cass just does not get muddy. Not ever. Nope .
Even the days on which she did actually go shooting she came home wet but clean!

I must be luck, when they come in I say on the mat. They sit down on the kitchen mat and give me their paws to clean and dry.
I didn't know if to try Musher Secret on their paws to help to protect them. Does anyone use it.

Nope , I think you are a dog whisperer Cath.

No, I haven't used Musher's but out of interest I read the link. I had a little chuckle about it containing "food grade waxes" - I am sure Cass would spend ages licking it off
She loves her feet and puts a lot of effort into keeping them just so as it is!

Are you thinking that it might help Fred by keeping his feet cleaner in the first place.

I used it on the boys for a while and myself. So It's great on semi humans too

When I had my hallway redecorated I took a sample of the mud that Joy brings into the house on a piece of card and based my choice of colour on this once it had dried. Interestingly it dried to a grey colour rather than the brown I had expected. This is why my hallway at Labrador height is grey, so that the mud doesn't show. It's a fairly bright yellow above this, so that it doesn't look too dismal. This is fine as long as I can wrap her in a towel before she has a chance to shake everywhere!
