Do dogs get dark rings under their eyes?

I’m not sure if it’s age or from tiredness, but it looks like their are shadows under Snowie’s eyes—pic below.



Sometimes the fur around his eyes looks an even white-cream tone. And other times, like this morning, it looks shadowed. If I’ve had a bad night, I have rings under my eyes. Is it the same for dogs?

Never really seen that before. I know when Harley is tired as under her eyes becomes more sunken, maybe it’s the same thing, just shows different ways on different dogs?

Kipper definitely gets more sunken under the eyes when he’s tired - we call it his tired eyes - it looks like it might be similar to Snowie. It sounds like it might be more noticeable in lighter dogs?

I can see when Finn is tired. He has then the same eyes, a bit sunken. Also when he has slept very deep he has stripes on his head and looks sleepy

Hunter's eyes go really red when he is tired.

Pongo's eyes get sunken and big bags under them like a basset hound when he is tired.

And yes @Rosie I know those Bassett eyes!! Where the bottom lid is red and droopy. The first time I saw them was when Snowie came home from daycare the first day. I rang them and asked what injury he’d got!!! I was so worried. Had never seen these kind of tired eyes!
