Dreaming

Reuben dreams , quite a lot , his little legs go and he makes those squeaking noises . Do you wake yours up or stroke them when they dream or just leave them ? I tend to gently stroke him , but he wakes with such a start , so maybe he is best left ?

I think they dream stacks when they’re little. I remember when Kipper was tiny and he’d have little whimpery dreams I couldn’t help stroking him, which sometimes woke him up and sometimes didn’t. These days he still has occasional squeaks, but I tend to leave him - sort of thinking along the same lines as humans, that dreams are often a ‘safe place’ to work through difficult or scary situations, and maybe it’s good practice to self-soothe? Last night while we were watching telly he seemed to have a nightmare where he woke up with a start and wanted reassurance, little sausage x

Like the others; mine mostly have happy dreams, sometimes those little muffled barks that make me laugh. Every now and again, Willow will have a worried dream and when she does, I stroke her slowly and talk quietly to her. Sometimes she relaxes, sometimes she wakes and snuggles in - which is very special because she's not a cuddly dog normally.
But if they're normal, happy dreams, I just let them be :)

If they are appearing to have a frightening dream, then I just lay my hand on them gently. If a happy dream, I leave them to enjoy it :)

Me too, sometimes the twitching and mumbling is quite scary so I just stroke Maisy for some reassurance, she calms down then but does not usually wake up. She also hurumphs with her lips, I don't know exactly how to describe it but you probably know what it is, kind of puffing and blowing when her mouth is shut, wierd but cute!

Yes, Pongo does this a lot! His cheeks puff out.
