Eight months old today

Reuben is growing up fast and making a smashing young lad . Hard to believe that its six months since he came to live with us , and that he is eight months old today ! At times he is wise beyond his age , at others he is a complete loon , just how it should be . Whilst very calm in the house , he still gets wildly excited when meeting people but we have noticed that he settles down more quickly than he used to do, once he has got the silliness out of his system !
I have been working on retrieves which at first he wasnt too bothered about but now loves with a passion , actively looking at me for his ball when we are out and about, its a useful distraction tool at times ! I dont let him have his ball all the time , keeping it a very precious commodity , but he knows its in my bag and it has become even more of a precious item than food treats . Recall with the whistle is still good but maybe not quite as sharp as it was , so its time to up the anti . He still sleeps in the bedroom but has now elected to go onto his own bed most of the time which, given his size is a blinkin good thing but I cant get him to snooze past 6.30 a.m. no worries , he will now sleep or rest most of the evening so I cant have it both ways !Reuben adores Nelly , its reciprocated , they really look the odd couple but in the sweetest way . I took this yesterday, he was looking so lovely in the afternoon sun, but comical with one ear inside out ! xx

He was an adorable pup and now he's turning into a lovely dog.

We looked at some photos last night of Merlin at that age - my goodness he was gangly, all legs and ears.

Eight months is a tough age, so if Reuben is doing so well right now you are definitely doing the right things!!

He is gorgeous. The ear is just a reminder that despite their serious faces labs are big goofy love bugs.

Chewie was a right pain at 8-9 months so it sounds like you and Reubs are doing great.
